Intro

SugarCity Events has a rich history. As you walk through the entrance, it’s as though time has stood still. Each room has a personality of its own, and each is full of surprises. The Turbinehal has been left just as it was, with nothing but original features.

This is where the factory’s electricity was generated, as you can see from the surviving machinery, including two large generators and a distribution panel. A glass wall provides a view of the areas which have still to be redeveloped, and the atmosphere of the Turbinehal has an almost magical intimacy.

At 200 square metres, it’s perfect for small events. It can also be used as a breakout room or temporary production office for events in the nearby Pulppersloods and Middenfabriek; it served the latter purpose during filming of the Dutch version of The Voice.

This industrial event space is suitable for groups of up to 120, and has its own entrance.

The industrial location for your event!
History

SugarCity Events was the Netherlands’ oldest sugar factory, operating from 1863 to 1992 and owned by CSM Suiker. The air was full of steam, the din of cranes and other machinery, and the smell of sugarbeet.

Since 2002, it has been undergoing redevelopment by the Cobraspen Group, transforming it into a unique event location while keeping the factory itself fully intact. It incorporates all the advanced technology you’d expect from a modern event venue, but this has been done subtly and with respect for the factory’s character.

The unique décor is testimony to the former sugar factory’s industrial grandeur, and it is still making history with many memorable events.
